15 farms open in winter

Published on 3 November 2025 by Elisa

What if we told you that there are at least 15 farms in Trentino-Alto Adige that are open in the winter? Kids love animals, and there’s nothing better than a farm visit to make them happy. There are many places in our region where you can take part in workshops or guided tours that let you get up close and personal with our four-legged friends (and more!). Here’s a list of educational farms that are open even during the cold season:

Farms Open in Winter – Valle dei Laghi and Garda Trentino

Maso Canova – Valley of the Lakes

In Monte Terlago, there’s a truly special place, born out of a love for animals and the land. Every weekend, by reservation, guided tours are organized to explore the farm. The best part is that the tours don’t have a set duration or itinerary: we let the children’s interests and curiosity lead the way. That’s why every visit is unique and different from all the others! For more information, read: Immersed in Nature at Maso Canova.

En Galavra – Comano Terme

Stepping through the door of this farm means being welcomed into the family. It’s an authentic visit that lets you actively participate in the activities taking place at that moment and understand how the work is done. For children, there’s also the chance to take a short ride on a pony or a horse. And who knows—maybe you’ll even get to bake cookies or grind flour. Here, everything becomes a valuable lesson in farm life. For more information, visit: The En Galavra Educational Farm

The Wool Industry – Comano

Sandro raises sheep as a hobby, and it is this same passion that drives him to want to teach children—and others—about the characteristics of these animals, which are mainly of the Tingola breed, and how their wool is processed. Children will have the opportunity to get to know the sheep and see how their wool is transformed. Wool-processing workshops are available by reservation. All information can be found at In Comano, there’s the Filiera della Lana.

Agriconda (Maso Maserac) – Vigo Lomaso

Have you ever been to Agriconda (Maso Maserac) in Lomaso? Here, you can explore the “climb to the farm” on your own: a trail with fun and educational stops that winds through the farm’s berry fields and countryside. Along the way, you’ll meet the donkey, the ponies, the Cameroon sheep, the bunnies, the beehives, and even Wallace, an adorable, very shaggy Scottish Highlander calf. In addition, there are often many activities (workshops, storytime, snacks…) organized for children and adults alike. Info A trip to Maso Maserac.

Athabaska – Deggia

Located a short distance from Lakes Nembia and Molveno, Athabaska is a farmstay that offers overnight accommodations as well as tastings of locally sourced products. The real highlight, however, is the animals: in addition to visiting the farm—where, alongside traditional farmyard animals, there’s even a camel—you can go on treks with llamas, alpacas, and donkeys, and, if you head toward Madonna di Campiglio, you can even try dog sledding. Children can brush the donkeys, learn how to clean their hooves, and how to saddle them. You’ll find everything you need to know here: Athabaska: Special Animals.

Agrisalus – Arco

A winning combination: a healthy and tasty breakfast featuring the farm’s own products and a guided tour of the farm. Children can get to know the animals that live on the farm. There are so many animals to pet: rabbits, pigs, and chickens. But that’s not all: Agrisalus is a full-fledged educational farm, where they organize specialized activities to help visitors learn firsthand about the animals’ needs, the milk processing, how to interact with dogs in a proper and responsible way, and even pet therapy sessions (all by reservation). And you can even stay overnight at the beautiful campground. For more information, visit: Farm Breakfast at Agrisalus.

Laghel7 – Arco

A little paradise nestled in the Laghel countryside, behind Arco Castle and Mount Colodri, far from traffic and noise. Here, surrounded by olive groves and close to woods and cliffs, many animals live: pigs, horses, dogs, chickens, sheep… Each animal has its own spacious pen with a covered shelter, but during the day, the animals are generally allowed to roam freely. If you book in advance, you can spend a couple of hours taking part in the farm’s daily activities and even learn to ride a horse. Activities are suspended during the Christmas season, when the animals are taken to the markets in Arco. For details, see Arco, at the Laghel 7 Farm.

This small riding stable and educational farm is located at the entrance to the Pejo Valley, on the edge of the forest.
