Can you enjoy safe, adrenaline-pumping adventures with kids in the mountains? Absolutely! You can go for walks, hike, take in the views, and enjoy great food—but you can also have fun and feel a thrill run down your spine! Whether you’re a child, a teenager, or an adult, there are attractions in the mountains that will leave you speechless: high speeds, hanging in mid-air, roller coasters, three-wheeled vehicles, and much more… We’ve gathered plenty of opportunities for you in this guide for true adventurers!
Fly line
Have you ever experienced the thrill of flying like a bird? Thanks to fly lines and zip lines, you can glide safely past breathtaking views, weaving through the branches of the trees in the forest. You wear a special harness that allows you to “sit” and are hooked onto a pulley that glides along a track or a thick metal cable secured to tree trunks and specific anchor points via steel cables. The only drawback? A fear of heights! Otherwise, even young children can participate; they’ll be equipped with special harnesses and must descend “in tandem” with an adult.
Forest Zip Line – Prà Rodont (Pinzolo)
The Forest Zip Line is Prà Rodont’s new attraction for 2026! You can easily reach the starting point via the ski lifts, put on your harness, go through a quick briefing, and then off you go—ready for a magical descent with your feet dangling and your heart and eyes filled with wonder! What did we like best? The ability to go faster or slower on certain sections, using a special mechanism that you adjust with your hands—just like the throttle on a scooter! Fun is guaranteed! We wrote about it here: Prà Rodont: New Forest Zip Line in Pinzolo
Catinaccio–Ciampedie Fly Line (Val di Fassa)
The Catinaccio fly line will take you on a magical glide through the woods thanks to its “green” system, which is perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. A self-braking carriage glides along the track, to which the passenger is attached via a special harness with a single-seat chair. You’ll glide through the air for 1,100 meters, reaching speeds of up to 12 kilometers per hour, at a height of 2 to 5–6 meters above the ground (about ten minutes in total). The course is suitable for everyone weighing between 20 and 120 kilos. You reach the Fly Line by taking the cable car from Vigo di Fassa—it’s just a few minutes’ ride. We’ve been there several times, including recently: Flying through the woods on the Catinaccio Fly Line
Fly Line Wasserfall – Riva di Tures (Aurina Valley)
The Fly Line Wasserfall winds through curves and spirals—never scary, but always fun—as it descends into the valley from the Riva di Tures waterfalls. To reach the starting point, continue uphill for 5 minutes from the third waterfall. You can buy a ticket at the ticket office; no reservations are needed. The “flight” lasts about six minutes and soars over the waterfalls until it crosses the Rio di Riva just before the finish. To read about our experience, click Tures Waterfalls and Fly Line.
Zip Line for Daredevils
For those who aren’t afraid of heights and are looking for truly adrenaline-pumping experiences, we recommend these two zip lines:
San Vigilio di Marebbe Zip Line (Val Badia)
Just a few meters from the family-friendly paradise of Piz de Plaies lies this amazing zipline, one of the longest in Europe. The ride begins at an altitude of 1,600 meters, where the starting platform is located. During the ride, you’ll pass through 10 additional intermediate platforms, covering a total length of 3.2 kilometers and reaching a top speed of 80 km/h. Surrounded by greenery, you’ll descend a total of 400 meters in elevation before arriving in San Vigilio. The main span is incredibly long: 780 meters! At the highest point above the ground, there will be a 100-meter drop beneath your feet (a truly unique thrill!). All the info HERE.
Monte Pana Zip Line (Val Gardena)
Mountain Carts
They look like tricycles, but they’re modern three-wheeled go-karts—without pedals or an engine, making them eco-friendly. To use them, you take the lifts up to the top and then zoom down at full speed on these fun vehicles. They’re very stable and easy to drive for both adults and children, thanks to their low profile and excellent brakes (children can drive on their own only starting at age 14; those aged 10 to 14 can drive, but must be accompanied by an adult).
The routes are usually set up on wide trails (which are often used as sledding runs in the winter). Helmets are mandatory and provided by the rental company. The rental cost ranges from 8.50 euros to 15 euros per ride (plus the lift ticket).
