Some people can’t resist the beach in the summer, while others prefer the pool or a lake…. but have you ever tried swimming in one of the natural lakes in Trentino-Alto Adige? Bio-lakes are natural pools where the water is purified through natural filtration systems: plants, algae, gravel, small fish… no chlorine or other chemicals, just crystal-clear water—and, surprisingly, it’s even relatively warm! If you’re on vacation in the mountains, they’re a great alternative to outdoor pools for those days when you’re in the mood for the beach! These are very well-maintained and organized facilities, where you’ll also find pleasant green spaces and amenities to spend a relaxing day for you and a fun-filled one for the kids.
Here’s where to find the bio-lakes in Trentino-Alto Adige

The lake is surrounded by a large garden where you can rent lounge chairs as well as stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) to enjoy the water in a different way than usual. Open from June 7 to September 7. Pinzolo Biological Lake
Just a stone’s throw from downtown lies the Pinzolo Bio-Lake area, a small lake with a natural filtration system that will surprise you with the temperature of its waters—cool but never cold. The delicate balance between the flora that purifies the water and the lake itself ensures that swimming here is always a pleasure. The water lilies are beautiful, and there are piers where you can relax. Here, too, you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas, and restroom facilities are available. Open from early June to mid-September. We’ve written about it here: Relaxation at the Biolago di Pinzolo
