Dro and Pietramurata: A Mini-Guide

Published on 21 May 2025 by Alessandra Prandi

The area between Sarche and Arco is often seen as just a stopover. However, wherever we go, we’re always eager to discover if there are fun things to do with the kids. In addition to walks, we’ve found plenty of family-friendly activities here as well. So if you’re curious to find out more, we’ve compiled them in this mini-guide.

NATURE RAFTING WITH RIVER SPIRIT

The main attraction of this corner of Trentino is undoubtedly the river that flows through its center, the Sarca (or the Sarca, as it is also called). One of the most interesting experiences you can have on this stretch of river with children ages 5 and up is nature rafting: a leisurely rafting trip that combines adrenaline-pumping sections with opportunities to observe the flora and fauna that inhabit the river and its banks. All of this, of course, is guided by experienced and qualified staff. We’ve been there and we’ll tell you all about it HERE

RIVER TREKKING

Let’s stay on the water so you can discover another exciting activity, especially for older kids. River trekking is a real adventure that brings you into close contact with the river and its unique features. You make your way down the river, navigating through rocks and whirlpools—sometimes letting the current carry you along, other times fighting against it. There are various difficulty levels, with trip durations that vary accordingly. We’ll tell you all about it HERE

CLIMBING AT GAGGIOLO

From the river to the climbing walls: in the village of Gaggiolo, between Dro and Pietramurata, there is a crag that’s perfect for a family outing. There are 24 routes, all of moderate difficulty with closely spaced bolts. You can find more information HERE

ARCHERY PARK

The first prehistoric archery park in Italy is also, to this day, the only one of its kind in the entire Trentino region. No special skills or knowledge are required: just grab your bow and arrows and set off on a dinosaur hunt. There are several types of courses, ranging from easy to challenging, with varying durations. Fun is guaranteed! We tried it ourselves—read about it HERE

ELIAS ADVENTURE PARK

Another adventure park—this time in the classic sense of the term—the Elias Adventure Park awaits you along the state highway just before you reach Dro (coming from Trento). The highlight of this park is undoubtedly the Big Zip Line, a 220-meter zip line that takes you across the Sarca River, letting you soar over the large boulders. There are four equipped courses, featuring moving logs, rock climbing, zip lines, vine swings, rope walkways, wobbly planks, and much more. For more information, click HERE

RIO SALLAGONI VIA FERRATA

Perhaps the most spectacular via ferrata in Garda Trentino—even though it doesn’t offer a view of the lake—it winds through a picturesque gorge carved out over the centuries by the Rio Sallagoni. A two-and-a-half-hour hike that combines adventure, technical sections, suspension bridges, waterfalls, and breathtaking beauty. Minimum height requirement for the via ferrata: 1.40 meters. All the info HERE.

DRO BAGS

Here’s a place you simply can’t miss. The Marocche di Dro are a truly unique geological formation, consisting of large boulders that tumbled down from Mount Brento when the glaciers began to retreat. The landscape is spectacular, almost lunar. You’ll walk among the boulders in a setting that resembles an arid desert. Avoid the hottest part of the day, but be sure to go at least once: it’ll be like getting lost in time and space—you won’t regret it. We’ll tell you all about it HERE

SPORT FISHING AT LAKE BAGATTOLI

Here’s an unusual activity that might actually be a big hit with the kids. Have you ever thought about taking them fishing? At Lake Bagattoli, you can fish for trout: you pay for your catch by the kilo, and you can also reserve tables and grills to turn your catch into a delicious fish barbecue. Equipment rentals are available. Find all the information by searching for Lake Bagattoli HERE

THE STAIRWAY TRAIL – CENIGA

A fun, unique hike with a dash of adrenaline along the Scaloni Trail. A truly special route, designed for families with curious children and teens ready to put themselves to the test with carabiners, harnesses, and breathtaking views. The loop trail is 10 kilometers long in total. Find all the details HERE.
