In Pozza and Vigo di Fassa in the summer

Published on 17 April 2026 by Elisa

The municipalities of Pozza di Fassa and Vigo di Fassa have been merged into a single municipality called San Jan. Here are all the activities we’ve compiled for this area.

Pozza di Fassa

Aloch Alpine Hut

It’s about a 20-minute easy walk from the historic center of Pozza di Fassa. This well-maintained restaurant, with its rustic decor, serves excellent traditional dishes. Outside, there’s a beautiful panoramic terrace. Lunch and dinner by reservation only. Open from June. All information about Malga Aloch.

Buffaure

PLEASE NOTE: SUMMER 2026 — The Buffaure hiking area will undergo construction in the summer of 2026; attractions will be only partially available.

An enchanting high-altitude destination, accessible by gondola from Pozza di Fassa, offering a wide variety of hikes, breathtaking views of the most beautiful peaks in the Dolomites, good food, and delightful activities for families. And then there are the themed trails—Tica Pop and Il Sentiero Incantato—which explore local legends, geology, flora, and fauna. Beautiful wooden art installations by artist Franz Avancini: benches, deck chairs, and giant thrones. Discover all the beauty of Buffaure.

Jumela Alpine Hut

Another hike to try, starting from Buffaure: follow Trail 643 on an easy and pleasant walk of about 40 minutes with a 120-meter elevation drop (downhill) to reach Malga Jumela, at an elevation of 1,882 meters. The restaurant offers authentic, homemade local dishes and desserts you won’t want to miss. In the summer, weekly activities are organized for families to learn about the animals and local products. Here’s all the information on Malga Jumela.

At Malga Jumela, there are hands-on demonstrations of how cheese is made! Every Thursday in July and August.

Vidor Campground

This resort, featuring rooms, apartments, a campground, and a RV parking area, is a true oasis of relaxation for the whole family. For the little ones, there are spacious playgrounds, a natural rock climbing wall, a water park, and a packed entertainment program. It’s strategically located for walks and hikes. All the information on Camping Vidor.

Val San Nicolò

A small valley that looks like something out of a fairy tale. The hike begins in Pozza di Fassa; leave your car in the large parking lot in Vidor and take the shuttle up. Following the main paved road, you’ll reach Baita Ciampiè, located at 1,826 meters, in about 40 minutes. Continuing along the trail, you’ll come to the picturesque waterfalls and a snack bar. All the information on the splendid Val San Nicolò.

Val Monzoni – Taramelli Mountain Hut

For this hike, start at the Buffaure ski lifts and continue to the right, following the signs. The climb is steady but manageable for children who are in reasonably good shape. It’s about a 450-meter climb taking a good hour and a half to reach Malga Monzoni ( a shuttle service is available in the summer for a fee). From there, continue uphill for another 45 minutes to the Taramelli Mountain Hut. For more information: Taramelli Mountain Hut in Val Monzoni

Vallaccia Mountain Hut

This is a fairly challenging hike if done in its entirety from Pozza di Fassa to the mountain hut at an elevation of 2,275. We recommend taking the shuttle to the Monzoni mountain hut: this saves you about an hour and a half of walking. Continue through the woods, turning right onto Trail 624: after about an hour and a 400-meter climb, you’ll reach the Vallaccia Mountain Hut. The hut has a beautiful panoramic terrace and serves local Trentino dishes. All information about the Vallaccia Mountain Hut.

Val di Fassa Bike and Pedestrian Trail

A trail connecting Val di Fassa to Val di Fiemme, winding through meadows, streams, and mountain farmsteads. With an elevation gain of just 600 meters, you can cover nearly 50 kilometers, from Canazei to Molina di Fiemme (the recommended route for families). Along the way, you’ll also find several playgrounds. All the information on the Val di Fassa bike and pedestrian path.

Val di Fassa Cooperative Dairy

How much dedication and passion goes into a “simple” slice of cheese? The collaboration between farmers and cheesemakers is something special. If you’re in the area and love cheese, stop by to stock up on these delicacies. Find all the information here about the Val di Fassa Cooperative Dairy.

Vigo di Fassa

Ciampedie

Take the cable car from Vigo up to an altitude of 2,000 meters, where you’ll find the Ciampedie basin—an incredible place with plenty to do: easy trails suitable even for strollers, a kindergarten, long hikes for all tastes, multi-day treks, plenty of mountain huts, a zip line, themed trails, and day hikes as well as multi-day trips. Here we’ll cover all the activities in Ciampedie.

Music Trail

A themed trail with 6 stops that tells the story of music: we’re located just above the village of Vigo di Fassa. This walk is suitable for everyone (about a half-hour walk), but not accessible with a stroller. All information regarding the Music Trail.

Ladino Museum of Fassa

It traces the entire history of the Val di Fassa: from prehistory to local industries, from legends to folk traditions, from World War I to the rise of mountaineering and tourism. Along the route, there are also 17 interactive stations offering a selection of over 70 short videos. Visitors can also experience virtual reality, which, thanks to a headset, allows them to take a journey through time. All information about the Ladin Museum.

Piciocaa Adventure Park

Located near the village of Pera di Fassa, along the bike path, it is also accessible from State Highway 48 near the Rasom Holz & Co. carpentry shop, with convenient and ample parking. High-altitude trails, a super zip line crossing the Avisio River, and, right next to it, a large, free-access playground with play equipment, play areas, and animals roaming freely (goats, alpacas, and donkeys). Typically open from early June through late September, there’s also a bar/restaurant with outdoor seating. Here’s the info: Piciocaa Adventure Park
