Things to Do on Alpe Cermis in the Summer

Published on 30 June 2026 by Elisa

We recently visited Alpe Cermis, and we can say it’s the perfect destination for spending one or more days outdoors with the whole family. The lifts, which are open from June 20 to September 20, 2026, make it very easy to reach the summit and enjoy everything the mountain has to offer.

Here are at least three good reasons to visit: spectacular natural landscapes with hikes suitable for everyone, modern and comfortable facilities, and plenty of attractions and play areas designed for all ages. We also particularly enjoyed the Villaggio dei Racconti, where the fairy tales and traditions of the Val di Fiemme come to life through an engaging experience. There are also some new features for summer 2026: a new themed trail for families and the chance to celebrate a birthday at high altitude, to make the day even more special.

We’ve decided to start by telling you about the activities you’ll find at the end of the first section, and then move on to those at higher elevations, as you climb all the way to the summit at 2,300 meters. But you can also do it the other way around—and maybe even spread it out over several days! The choice is yours! We were even there with the TV crew—check it out here:

Alpe Cermis Ski Lifts

Take the lifts from downtown Cavalese or from the valley floor and let yourself be carried along as you glide above the Avisio River, the meadows, and the forests of Cermis to reach your favorite destinations effortlessly. To stay up to date on the schedules and rates for the Alpe Cermis lifts.

The Village of Stories

This charming village, located in Doss dei Laresi, brings to life the traditions and typical architecture of the Val di Fiemme, with stone and wood houses custom-designed for children. The park’s central theme revolves around legends, fairy tales, and stories passed down through generations. It’s a narrative journey where children and their companions will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the valley’s most fascinating stories. Learn more about the Village of Stories.

Inside the Village of Stories, children can also enjoy a variety of engaging activities that reflect local traditions, such as the musical church, the traditional sawmill, the castle slide, the barn, the farmhouse, and the mill. Admission is 6 euros per person; there are combo packages that include lift tickets and admission to the village. New for 2026: On weekdays, you can celebrate birthdays here amid stories, games, and nature. More info and prices HERE.

Cermislandia

A park full of fun activities: wooden bowling, a colorful cube obstacle course, a pulley, and—above all—the pond for exhilarating “water” activities and balancing challenges on the water (tip: bring a swimsuit, towel, and a change of clothes) while walking on ropes. It’s located across from the Baita Tonda restaurant, where you can relax and enjoy something (very) delicious. There are also shaded areas where you can relax while keeping an eye on the kids.

Baita Tonda – Alpe Cermis

Why not treat yourself to a culinary experience as well? Baita Tonda is just the place! Authentic dishes made with local ingredients that tantalize the taste buds: mushrooms, game, canederli, but also pasta with sauce and sausage—and the list goes on and on! The beautiful outdoor terrace overlooks Cermislandia, but the stube (with its stunning view of the valley) and the indoor dining room are just as well-kept and comfortable. Here, they go out of their way to cater to families and are eager to entertain guests with events and other activities organized throughout both summer and winter. Baita Tonda is open during the ski lift operating hours. Our experience at Baita Tonda.

Adventure Park – Alpe Cermis

Right next to Cermislandia, on the right, is the Adventure Park: a treetop adventure park where you can zoom down small zip lines, cross suspended tubes, walk along ropes and planks to test your balance, or take your first thrilling leap into the void! There are four courses: one green one for the little ones, two blue ones, and one red one. We went there and had a blast! All the information about the adventure park.

Summer Activities

A Day in the Life of a Lumberjack

Outdoor activities to learn how to live like real lumberjacks. You’ll be able to build a small cabin, haul logs down to the valley using a cable system, and utilize the water channel—just as tradition dictates in the Val di Fiemme.

  • When: Every Friday at 10:00 a.m. from June 26 to September 17, 2026
  • Where: Alpe Cermis
  • Cost: 15 euros per child
  • Info: Reservations required by the day before at 346.5024955 | Minimum age: 5 years | Activity without parents

If the activities described above aren’t enough, you can take part in one (or more) of the weekly events designed for families with children at the Villaggio dei Racconti; you can find them HERE.

The “In the Footsteps of Nature” trail is located at an elevation of 2,000 meters at the top station of the second gondola and winds through the woods until it reaches the Lo Chalet mountain hut. Froggie, a cute little frog who lives on Alpe Cermis, has run away again! Help Penelope, his shepherdess friend, find him.

Paion

Take the lifts up to 2,300 meters to Paion (the last section is a four-seat chairlift that offers stunning views and a relaxing ride). When you get off the chairlift, you’ll immediately see enclosures with some animals (horses, ducks, bunnies, and sheep) and, of course, the mountain hut where you can stop for breakfast with huge slices of cake. The best thing you can do as soon as you get off, though, is to take a deep breath and let your gaze wander over the vast mountain ranges visible from up here. It will take your breath away.

If you enjoy 360° views, hike up alongside the mountain hut toward “Panoramio.” There, thanks to the semicircular marker with the names engraved on it, you’ll be able to identify the various peaks surrounding you. A hike (about 40 minutes) to the Bombasel lakes also starts from Paion. All the information about Paion.

Bombasel Ponds

The hike that starts at the chairlift’s top station and leads to the Bombasel lakes is always beautiful, easy, and rewarding. It’s not strenuous, but strollers aren’t allowed, and you’ll need at least hiking boots. From Paion, follow the signs for Forcella del Bombasel (it’s the cross you see on the summit of the mountain directly in front of you, which you can reach via the “Cermis Skyline” via ferrata). Alternatively: take the small dirt road that runs alongside the mountain pasture. The two paths soon intersect, and you continue on the dirt road until you reach a fork that points toward the lakes. The goal? The body of water where the surrounding peaks are reflected. It’s well worth it! All the details about the hike to the Bombasel Lakes.

Cermis Skyline Via Ferrata

A via ferrata suitable even for children (ages 6 and up, if they’re used to this type of activity) that takes you to the summit of Castel di Bombasel, the mountain range overlooking the beautiful Bombasel Lakes, and offers stunning views of the Lagorai landscape. You must have the proper equipment: a helmet, a climbing harness, and everything else you need (these can be rented at the mountain hut). From Lake Bombasel, follow the signs to the nearby Forcella del Macaco; from the pass, follow the signs for the CermiSkyLine to reach the start of the via ferrata. The via ferrata is fairly straightforward and has only a few vertical sections of moderate difficulty. It takes about 50 minutes. All the information about the via ferrata.
